Utility Line Clearance Arborist Training

Utility Line Clearance Arborist Training is a 160-hour workforce training program designed to prepare participants for entry-level positions on utility line clearance crews. The program develops the practical skills, safety awareness, and professional field habits needed to work effectively around vegetation and electric utility infrastructure.

Delivered over four weeks, the program is designed to accelerate the development of foundational skills that workers would typically gain during approximately their first six months of on-the-job ground crew experience. Graduates enter the workforce with a stronger baseline of practical experience and job readiness, helping support a more efficient transition into employer training and field operations.

Participants also earn industry-recognized certifications in ATSSA Flagger, CPR and First Aid, and TCIA Electrical Hazards Awareness Program (EHAP).

The program is designed around entry-level workforce preparation and current employer needs. Utility line clearance careers can offer competitive wages and benefits, with opportunities for advancement as workers gain experience, qualifications, and additional responsibilities.

Because the training requires full-time participation, some participants may qualify for financial support through the UVM Scholarship Program. Eligibility requirements apply, and funding is not guaranteed.
